Tower of Fantasy servers got overwhelmed at launch, dev offers freebies as an apology

Publisher Level Infinite and developer Hotta Studio’s new anime-themed MMO Tower of Fantasy finally launched, and due to popularity it had server issues.

As with any hot new online game, there’s bound to be connectivity issues as there are only so many finite server resources to support player demand. Some users reported 10 or more hour-long queues, but Hotta said this will be resolved soon.

“At present, the problems related to queuing, disconnection, and inability to register and login have all been fixed,” Hotta Studio said. “Other problems will be fixed within the next 48 hours.”

To make up for the Tower of Fantasy servers being swamped, Hotta is gave away 300 Dark Crystals for login and disconnect issues, with another 300 Dark Crystals for account register and login issues. All of these free-to-play MMO-like games have currency like this that you can earn over time, or buy with real-world money.

The key here is that you had to be registered, even without playing the game yet, by August 11th to receive the above freebies. You can still net 10 Gold Nucleus to all registered players before this coming Wednesday, August 17th. This is a medium-rarity currency for using towards gacha chances.

Tower of Fantasy is now available for Windows PC (via its official website and soon on Steam, and the Epic Games Store), iOS (via the App Store), and Android (via Google Play).

The Genshin Impact-like shared MMO / RPG shares a lot of similarities, but also has some things unique to it – read more in our recent preview we posted for the game.
