New Tales from the Borderlands is going to be released on October 21st, Gearbox Software has revealed. The confirmed platforms are PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. The date was already known thanks to it being leaked last week via a listing on Amazon, but now this is official confirmation.
This new game replaces the original protagonists Rhys and Fiona from the original Tales from the Borderlands, but they could always turn up. The features of New Tales from the Borderlands includes:
- THE UNDERDOG STORY OF THREE LOVABLE LOSERS – Decide the fates of altruistic scientist Anu, her ambitious, “streetwise” brother Octavio, and the fierce, frogurt-slinging Fran. With nothing left to lose and everything to gain, you’ll claw and con your way through this thrilling five-part story;
- AN EXTRAORDINARY CINEMATIC ADVENTURE – The Borderlands aren’t just home to Vault Hunters, psychos, and weapons-corp CEOs; they’re full of downtrodden, intrepid civilians just trying to get by. With a host of returning and fresh faces, this unforgettable tale is sure to delight fans new and old;
- YOUR CHOICES SHAPE THE OUTCOME – The decisions you make determine how your story ends in unexpected ways. Whether it’s Anu’s vision of a universe that markets more than weapons, Octavio’s dreams of fame and fortune, or Fran’s frosty plot for revenge, their success or failure depends on you.
This new Tales from the Borderlands was announced back in April, a good confirmation for many fans that one of the best slices of Borderlands story was getting revisted. The 2014 original is widely regarded as the best of Telltale Games, coming out right at the peak of their popularity and creative powers. However, Gearbox is developing this successor themselves, so we’ll have to hope that they’re able to capture the same style and tone of Telltale’s game, considering that the writing and comedy in Borderlands 3 wasn’t to everyone’s tastes.
