Ubisoft announced The Last Chapter, another DLC expansion for the epic open world action RPG Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.
The Last Chapter will be a free quest line added to the game, returning to the character of Eivor once more and exploring some more of the character’s more mythological links to Odin – this occurred in a previous expansion. The trailer seems to hint at some time-shifting shenanigans, and Ubisoft say that they will be reunited with characters from the setting.
The announcement and trailer came around the 16 minute mark of the 2022 showcase.
This final freebie for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla came amidst a flood of 15th anniversary announcements for the franchise. There’s an open world mobile game on the way that will take players to Ancient China, but there’s also two mainline Assassin’s Creed games in development at both Ubisoft Quebec and Ubisoft Montreal. Assassin’s Creed Codename Red will take players to feudal Japan at long last, while Codename Hexe is more mysterious – read more about those here. Oh, and there’s also Assassin’s Creed Mirage.
It’s been a few years since Valhalla launched alongside the new generation consoles in late 2020, the culmination of three games that explored the open world RPG gameplay first seen in Origins. In our AC Valhalla review, Jim said:
“Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla effortlessly plants its banner as the best open world RPG available for the new consoles. This Viking epic flexes its gore-soaked, tattooed muscles when it comes to world-building, and medieval England wows with its enchanting untamed vistas. It’s also portioned out at a steady pace and, if not for the repetitive, limited combat, Valhalla could have ranked even higher among our favourite games in the series.”
