Someone needs to have a word at whoever at Sony has decided to start announcing things in the middle of the night. PlayStation VR 2 got unexpectedly dated in the wee hours recently and at 11pm UK time they have just announced a State of Play for tomorrow.
Anyway, moan over. A new State of Play is on the way and this one will “celebrate the amazing creative contributions of the Japanese game development community.” This is because the Tokyo Game Show is just round the corner.
What time will this broadcast be happening? State of Play returns tomorrow, Tuesday, September 13, with a new live broadcast at 3:00pm Pacific Time / 6:00pm Eastern Time / 11:00pm BST. Another late night in TSA Towers then, but as this is focussed on the Japanese market we will forgive them just this once.
You can watch the broadcast live on Twitch and YouTube.
“For tomorrow’s show, we’ll have some great updates from our amazing Japanese partners, along with a few other surprises from developers all around the world,” say Sony. “Expect about ~20 minutes of reveals, new updates and fresh gameplay footage for 10 games coming to PS5, PS4, and PS VR2.”
So what can we expect? Well Final Fantasy VII Remake Part II, aka Final Fantasy VII Rebirth might be shown. PlayStation’s Japan Studios have been quiet but they were downsized so may not be working on anything. Team Asobi are still around so they may have something, possibly for PSVR 2.
Resident Evil 4 remake may also make an appearance but what about Pragmata? Forgotten about that game, hadn’t you? Kingdom Hearts 4 has been announced so there may be a teaser, or perhaps some Elden Ring DLC, that game was a massive hit and the DLC would sell like the proverbial hot cakes. Sony do say there will be a few updates from developers outside of Japan so maybe a bit of God of War will be shown, although I would expect them to have a State of Play just devoted to that game.
