The Street Fighter 6 World Tour opening movie has been released by Capcom, and this little movie confirms the 18 characters that will be available at launch. Those characters are Luke, Jamie, Manon, Kimberly, Marisa, Lily, JP, Juri, Dee Jay, Cammy, Ryu, E. Honda, Blanka, Guile, Ken, Chun-Li, Zangief, and Dhalsim. This is two more than Street Fighter V which launched with 16 fighters and ended up with 45 characters.
The Street Fighter 6 opening movie does not show any gameplay but instead an animation that talks about the meaning of strength, the core of the World Tour mode. In World Tour mode players can create their own custom fighter to wander around Metro City, and get into fights. It was recently confirmed that a Street Fighter 6 closed beta will be taking place from 7th to 10th October, with access to a training mode, ranked and casual matches, tournaments, Battle Hub matches, Extreme Battle and Game Center. You can head here to sign up for the Street Fighter 6 closed beta.
In our most recent Street Fighter 6 preview, Nick P wrote, “Without having to worry about building up a meter to do cool things, new players can properly learn the fundamentals of fighting games, meaning hopefully they’ll give it a go and stick around. For veterans, the Drive System is going to help showcase some real creativeness, and will foster deeper experimentation to make the most of it. The professional scene is going to be a marvel to behold in the coming years! We haven’t even scratched the surface yet of what Street Fighter 6 has to offer, but I can tell you now, it’s going to be an all timer.”
Street Fighter 6 does not have a release date yet, but it is expected to launch in 2023. The confirmed platforms for the game are PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
