Microsoft Teams CVP joins UiPath; Sage Bionetworks names president; and more – Startup

— Graham Sheldon, former corporate vice president of product for Microsoft Teams, is now chief product officer of UiPath, an artificial intelligence and automation company. UiPath is based in New York City and has an office in Bellevue, Wash.

Sheldon spent more than 20 years at Microsoft in various roles. He began as a product manager and from 2005 to 2008 served as a technical advisor to Satya Nadella, who was then a senior vice president and is now Microsoft CEO and chairman.

Sheldon’s other roles at the tech giant included principal lead program manager for Bing and principal engineering manager for Dynamics Applied Research, where he led a team of data scientists and engineers to build predictive systems for business applications.

UiPath also recently promoted Munil Shaw from senior vice president of engineering to chief technology officer of cloud. Shaw previously spent 23 years at Microsoft, most recently as head of engineering, developer services, in the Azure and AI division.

— Seattle biomedical research nonprofit Sage Bionetworks appointed Luca Foschini as president. Foschini previously spent more than ten years as the chief data scientist at Evidation Health, a healthcare technology and services company he co-founded.

At Evidiation, Foschini built a team of more than 50 people that worked with biopharma organizations to provide technology and methodology guidance on collecting and analyzing health data generated from sources such as smartphones and wearables.

Foschini has a doctoral degree in computer science and has been a visiting researcher at ETH Zurich, Google and the University of California, Santa Barbara. He is also a retired competitive programmer who represented Italy in the International Olympiads in Informatics and later coached the Italian national team.

— Irina Fine is now CEO of Bamboo Learning, replacing Ian Freed. Fine and Freed co-founded the five-year-old startup, which has raised more than $2 million and offers an app that combines touch and voice recognition. Bamboo previously offered voice-based apps for Amazon’s Alexa devices.

Fine previously led the startup’s content, business development, sales, product, operations and finance operations. She was previously a self-employed educational management and curriculum development consultant and a vice president of business development at The Grow Network/McGraw-Hill.

Freed will continue to serve on the board of Bamboo Learning and as an advisor. He is a former technology adviser for Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and spent more than 12 years at Amazon. He also spent seven years at RealNetworks.

— Stephanie Camp was hired as chief marketing officer of recruiting startup SeekOut. Camp was previously head of growth marketing at Qualtrics and vice president of marketing at Bellevue, Wash.-based employee well-being company Limeade. She also spent four years at Microsoft as a senior marketing manager for Xbox.

SeekOut raised $115 million a year ago, which propelled its value past $1 billion, and it also won Startup of the Year honors at the Startup Awards in 2021.

— Harini Gokul left Amazon, where she was customer success leader at AWS innovation, to join cybersecurity and identity technology company Entrust as its chief customer officer. Gokul spent more than three years at Amazon, and prior to that led cloud and digital transformation offerings at Microsoft. 

— Brian Crowley is now vice president of engineering at WiBotic, which provides wireless charging hardware and energy management software for the mobile, aerial and underwater robotics markets. Crowley was previously on sabbatical for five months and prior to that spent more than five years at Alitheon, where he was most recently vice president of engineering and operations.
