Dotemu and Leikir Studio have announced that the upcoming Metal Slug Tactics spin-off has been delayed until 2023, citing that they need a little more time for development.
Marco, Eri, Fio, and Tarma are tinkering away to make #MetalSlugTactics as explosive as possible on release, but the squad needs a bit more time in the shop to prepare for the battles ahead. See you in 2023! @LeikirStudio x @Dotemu

Eschewing the industry standard of baking the text message into a JPEG on Twitter, Dotemu write “Marco, Eri, Fio, and Tarma are tinkering away to make Metal Slug Tactics as explosive as possible on release, but the squad needs a bit more time in the shop to prepare for the battles ahead. See you in 2023!”
Here’s hoping the game gets the time it needs to be an instant classic and uphold Dotemu’s stellar reputation for retro remakes, sequels and spin-offs. The Parisian nostalgia factory has had a hand in reviving a growing number of familiar names from the arcade era including Streets of Rage, Windjammers, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Metal Slug is the latest IP to join the ranks, beloved by many for its high octane brand of retro, side-scrolling shootouts.
As the name implies, Metal Slug Tactics is taking things in a bold new direction. It may feature the same heroes, visuals, and imagery of SNKs arcade classics, but takes on a very different perspective. We’re suckers for turn-based tactical RPGs, and this looks like a wonderfully retro take on the genre.
