Guilty Gear: Strive tops 1 million copies shipped and sold, now best selling title in franchise

Guilty Gear: Strive has been massively popular for the franchise, as it was able to sell over 300,000 copies in just the first week alone. Which was then followed up by reaching the half million milestone by the first month of its launch.

Now, over a year after releasing worldwide, Guilty Gear: Strive has managed to break the 1 million copies sold milestone. This is a first in series history, and therefore cementing Guilty Gear: Strive as the best selling in franchise history as well.

The series growth in popularity seems to have come from it’s greater presence within EVO, the main stage of competitive play for fighting games. It also helps to have attention outside of fighting games, such as the Jack-o pose that made massive waves over the internet as a meme.

For a descriptor of what that was for those unaware, it was a pose the character did in game where she bent her top half of her body all the way to the ground, but kept her bottom half up with her legs somewhat split still standing. Basically she had her butt sticking up in the air and spawned tons of fan art.

The game has also managed to keep up good support after it’s launch as well, likely aiding in its sales. There has been a number of DLC characters released for its season 1 pass. With the second season pass already being announced with Bridget revealed to be the first of this pass.

Guilty Gear: Strive has been available on Windows PC (via Steam), PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
