Games Workshop show off a selection of Khorney Warhammer previews

Games Workshop decided to celebrate August 8th by showing off a variety of Warhammer previews devoted to the Blood God.

Eight is the sacred number of Khorne, the Chaos God of blood, hatred, rage, and uncontrollable violence, so what better way to celebrate Khorne Day than with a few previews for upcoming models and rules?

The first preview was a glimpse at the next Warhammer Underworlds warband, the Gorechosen of Dromm. Accompanying Slaughterpriest Dromm is Skullgrinder Herax, a forger of grim artifacts and weapons for the followers of Khorne. We got a glimpse at Herax’s fighter card, one of his upgrades, and of course, his model.

As befitting a Khornate warband, the Gorechosen of Dromm look to be an aggressive bunch that focus on dealing damage as fast as possible, as well as manipulating hazardous terrain. The warband’s main mechanic looks to be Blood Tithe, which are counters that the warband’s fighters gain when dealing or receiving damage.

Getting 3 Blood Tithe counters is Skullgrinder Herax’s Inspire condition, and much like Kainan’s Reapers and their Bone Tithe system, it looks like the Gorechosen can also spend these tokens to get buffs and special abilities.

Moving on to the 31st Millennium, Games Workshop also showed off the inevitable head and shoulder upgrade sets for the World Eaters Legion for Warhammer: The Horus Heresy.

As with all the recent upgrade sets, these are designed to give your Mark VI Astartes some fancy, Legion-specific cosmetic enhancements.

Advancing a further 10,000 years into the future, Games Workshop showed off some Khorne rules from the upcoming Warhammer 40,000 Chaos Daemons codex. They had previously shown off Bloodletters and the new Daemonic Invulnerability rule, and now we got a peek at the Flesh Hounds stat line.

These savage war dogs of Khorne received an extra 2 inches of movement, an extra point of Strength, an additional attack, and the new Daemonic Invulnerability saves. They also get a boost to damage when they charge or perform a Heroic Intervention.

Games Workshop showed off some of the special rules for the Skulltaker as well. Much like in previous editions, the Skulltaker gets buffs when fighting rival heroes. He also has an aura that gives nearby Bloodletters +1 to hit, and the range of this aura increases as the Skulltaker claims trophies for the Skull Throne.

Finally, Games Workshop gave a sneak peek at the brand new Khorne Berserkers plastic kit, while the current Khorne Berserker kit is pushing two decades old at this point.

The original Berserker kit has been gradually reduced to an angry red dwarf as newer Space Marine models have gotten bigger and more impressive over the past few years. The new Khorne Berserker kit, as well as the upcoming World Eaters codex, are due sometime next year.

Are you excited to maim, kill, and burn in the name of the Blood God with these new models?
