“It is important to us that this experience is the best it can be at launch,” KeokeN write on Twitter. “With this in mind, we’ve collectively made the difficult decision to move the release date to 2nd of Febraury in order to ensure that we are able to live up to that ambition.”
The continue that a further glimpse of the game will be shared during the Gamescom Future Games Show on 24th August.
It’s only been a couple of months since the team announced that Deliver Us Mars would be coming out on 27th September, but clearly the last two months have proven more challenging or time consuming that anticipated. Deliver Us Mars is the latest of a flood of games being delayed from September and October to the start of 2023.
Set 10 years after Deliver Us The Moon’s Fortuna mission, a new protagonist and her companion drone find themselves similarly stranded on the red planet after their ship crash lands. Kathy Johanson, part of the crew of the Zephyr space shuttle has embarked on a mission to the Red Planet to try and retrieve the colonisation vessels known as ARKs that were sent there by the shadowy organisation known as Outward.
However, Kathy has an ulterior motive of trying to find out what happened to her father, Isaac, who joined Outward and went to Mars, leaving his daughter behind as a child. Aa mysterious message from the planet hinting at her past has lured her to space.
Building on the third person exploration of the original, Deliver Us mars will include platforming challenges, solving puzzles, scuba diving – I guess they found water on Mars, then? – zero G sequences, and a brand new launch sequence inside a spaceship. Some parts of the game will be set on Earth and the Moon, but the main goal will be to get to Mars, figure out what really happened to Outward’s colonists and the fate of Kathy’s dad.
We’ll have to wait a while longer, but when Deliver Us Mars does release, it will be coming out across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
