Assassin’s Creed Codename Red is going to Japan – Codename Hexe & Infinity also confirmed

Ubisoft have opened a flood of news to outline the future of the Assassin’s Creed franchise. There’s Assassin’s Creed Mirage, of course, but two big new mainline games are also in development: Codename Red and Codename Hexe, all of which will be united within the long rumoured Project Infinity.

Assassin’s Creed Codename Red is the next premium flagship title, coming from Ubisoft Quebec and building on the open world RPG foundations that the series has used for the last few years. Ubisoft Quebec created Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, and the new game is being headed up by Jonathan Dumont.

But most exciting about this? Codename Red will finally take players to feudal Japan, dropping you into the role of a super-sneaky Shinobi assassin.

But Ubisoft Montreal is also working on a new game in the Assassin’s Creed franchise, and that’s called Codename Hexe. This will be a new style of Assassin’s Creed game and the team is being led by Clint Hocking, who led the deeply systemic gameplay of Far Cry 2 and Watch Dogs Legion.

Assassin's Creed Hexe

All of this will be united within Codename Infinity. This is the long-rumoured hub for all things Assassin’s Creed, described during Ubisoft Forward as being the single entry point into the franchise. Within this you’ll gain access to both Red and Hexe whenever they are released, and it will also be the gateway to future games in the series as well.

These might even include multiplayer, with Ubisoft confirming that they will be exploring new standalone multiplayer experiences within the Assassin’s Creed setting.

None of this has any kind of release window attached to it, but it certainly seems that Ubisoft are forging ahead as quickly as they can to really create an explosion of Assassin’s Creed content in the next few years.

Assassin's Creed Roadmap Infinity

So, with all of that in mind, what are you most excited for with the Assassin’s Creed games going forward? It’s going to be the feudal Japan game Assassin’s Creed Codename Red, right?
