Seattle smart-tracking technology company Pebblebee is teaming with Montana-based Peak Ski Co. to help the company integrate Pebblebee tech into its skis.

The two companies are unveiling Peak Lôc8 on Tuesday, a locating and tracking device embedded within the ski under the topsheet material. The device is compatible with both iOS and Android platforms and is wirelessly rechargeable.

Using a mobile device connected to the Peak Lôc8, the goal is to help skiers track down valuable gear that can go missing for any number of reasons — whether it’s a bad wreck on the mountain or bad thief at the lodge.

“As an avid technologist and passionate skier myself, I know how much people value their ski gear. I’ve always dreamt of having our tracking technology built into performance skis,” Daniel Daoura, Pebblebee CTO and co-founder, said in a statement.

Pebblebee was founded in 2014 by Daoura and Nick Pearson-Franks, a fellow Boeing engineer. The company makes hardware devices and an app to locate lost keys, pets and more.

Peak is a small, direct-to-consumer ski brand co-founded by CEO Andy Wirth, a veteran of the mountain resort and hotel industry, and Bode Miller, a former Olympic and World Cup alpine ski racer.

The new technology will be embedded within certain models of Peak’s 2023/24 line of skis.
