Marvel’s Midnight Suns will now be released on December 2nd for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. it was only last month that Firaxis stated the game was going to be delayed to early 2023. That still holds true for the PS4, Xbox One, and Switch versions of Marvel’s Midnight Suns which do not yet have a confirmed release date.
On top of the revised release date for the game, Marvel also revealed there will be five video shorts released in the build up Midnight Suns. These shorts will act as a prequel to the game, showing how and why the Midnight Suns have come together. The first of these shorts will be released on October 31st, and each episode will feature the likes of Doctor Strange and Wolverine.
Marvel’s Midnight Suns is an adaptation of 1992’s Rise of the Midnight Sons cross-over event in the Marvel comics universe and will feature twelve playable characters, some familiar, some less so. Magik from the X-Men and Nico Minoru from the Runaways are two such characters. More prominent characters include Captain America, Doctor Strange, Spider-Man and Wolverine. Brand new superhero The Hunter, who is resurrected to fight against Lilith, mother of demons, is also part of the game and will be the main character players use.
Marvel’s Midnight Suns has been delayed twice with the original release window supposed to be in March 2022. This was then pushed back to October 7th. While December 2nd is now the confirmed date for the release of the PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5 versions of Marvel’s Midnight Suns there is always the possibility of further delays. It is unlikely though as 2K and Firaxis are unlikely to want to confirm a relatively close release date, and then end up pushing the game back again.
