Diablo IV survey hints at possible battle pass and premium currency

In what could be considered a blessing or a curse, it appears that Activision Blizzard is sending out surveys to gauge interest in possible monetization schemes for Diablo IV.

A Reddit user by the name of BellasaurusRawr helped to translate a German survey that was about the possibility of Diablo IV cosmetic microtransactions, launch editions, premium currency, and even a battle pass. This survey appears to be very similar to another survey from a few weeks ago about possible cosmetic microtransactions in the upcoming Overwatch 2.

With the Overwatch 2 survey, Blizzard was quick to point out that the prices in the survey were random and to create a better understanding of what players wanted or, more preciously, what they were willing to spend. So, the prices in this Diablo IV survey should probably be treated just the same.

When looking at the survey itself, we can see that they have three different pricing options with three different versions of Diablo IV. Each version comes with different additional content for a higher or lower price.

What this could also be is gauging interest for different possible launch editions for Diablo IV but seems to be opening the door for possible microtranscations in the future (anyone else see that horse armor and see red?), and the use of premium currency.

Launch editions also are becoming more common, companies like Ubisoft will launch three different versions of their games nowadays: Standard, Deluxe, and Ultimate, each coming with different amounts of content including DLC, cosmetics, or battle passes.

It should also be stated that, as of writing this, none of this has been 100% guaranteed to happen with the launch of Diablo IV, but Activision Blizzard’s handling of Diablo Immortal does have some fans worried about the possibility of being nickel and dimed in the future.

That being said, Diablo IV will be a full priced game and hopefully that gives the company less incentive to fill it with microtransactions.

Diablo IV is launching across Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, and PS5.
